| Deep Brain Stimulator Therapy |
Deep brain stimulator (DBS) therapy was approved by the FDA in 1997 for the treatment of severe benign essential tremor (essential tremor, familial tremor.) Subsequently in 2002, DBS therapy was approved for use in Parkinson disease to control the various movement disorders associated with this condition. These movement disorders included tremor, dyskinesias, freezing and sudden “off time.”
